OLDSMAR, Fla. - Pauline Moran Samways, 91, died July 15, 2014, at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Har-bor, Fla. after a brief illness.

Pauline was the daughter of Paul Franklin Moran and Ila Jeanette Waters Moran and was born in Star City, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lloyd D. Moran and her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Richard Godbey Samways.
Pauline is survived by her children, Douglas Samways of Belmont, Beverly Samways of Oldsmar, Fla., Gregory Samways of Fort Mill, S.C. and Valerie Samways Burri (Dean) of Clearwater, Fla., as well as grandchildren George Burri of Fremont California, Patrick Burri of Austin, Texas, Constance Burri of Cor-al Gables, Fla. and Francesca Burri, Marjorie Burri, Dominic Burri, Benedict Burri and Maximilian Burri of Clearwater, Fla.
Pauline attended the University of Tennessee at Memphis where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing. She began her career as an RN in a Miami, FL hospital. After taking time off to raise her family and moving to Gastonia, Pauline went back to work in the office of Dr. Spencer Eaves, Ophthalmologist and later worked with Dr. Frank Keathley, Dermatologist.
Upon her retirement, Pauline enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and frequent trips to the North Caro-lina mountains. After the death of her husband, she left Gastonia, her home of more than thirty years and moved with her daughter Beverly to Florida, where she happily resided for the last decade, to be closer to her grandchildren.
Pauline was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a friendly neighbor and skilled care-giver who touched many lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pauline will be buried at Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the nearest Hospice in appreciation for the loving care they provided Pauline.
No service is planned.
Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia is handling arrangements for Pauline.
