LINCOLNTON - Phillip Houston Allen, 53, of 941 Calloway Road, went home to be with Jesus on April 22, 2012.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Wesleyan Church in Lincolnton with the Rev. Tommy Wright officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Warlick Funeral Home.
At all other times, the family will be at the home of his son, James, 1746 River Road in Lincolnton.
Phillip was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Gaston County, to the late Houston Henry and Alice "Peggy" Capps Allen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandmother, Lucy Allen, a.k.a. Granny. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was co-owner of Country Home Crafts and loved doing woodworking. Phillip was a lifetime member of the Lions Club of Lincolnton, a member of First Wesleyan Church, and graduated from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia and Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Payne Allen of the home; two sons, James Houston Allen and his girlfriend, Amanda Brittain, of Lincolnton, and Brian Christopher Allen of the home; one sister, Becky "Sissy" Ledford and husband Tommy of Gastonia; one foster brother, Mike Waters and wife Teresa of Lenoir City, TN; and one foster nephew, Zachary Weaver of Mt. Holly.
Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 115 Bonview Avenue, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
