GASTONIA, NC-- Rachel Hoffman Broome, age 78, passed away on Friday September 14, 2018 surrounded by her daughters at home.
Rachel was born February 18, 1940 in Bessemer City, NC to George and Lois Hoffman. Rachel married the love of her life, Jimmy Broome on July 19, 1963. Together they raised two daughters, Melanie and Heather. Rachel made a career in the insurance business working for Conner Insurance and Bradley Insurance Companies. She was happiest when she was listening to music, on the dance floor, traveling and playing games with family and friends.
She adored her grandchildren, Taylor Jenkins, Chloe Jordan and Olive Peterson. Rachel was forever fun loving and happy. She made friends easily and cared deeply for them.
Rachel was predeceased by her parents, George and Lois Hoffman, husband, Jimmy Broome and sister Doris Toney. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Jordan and husband Brad, Heather Peterson and husband Otis; brother, Jerry Hoffman; sisters Helen Clemmer, Linda Navey and husband Danny.
Receiving of friends will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Monday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00PM, Tuesday at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Sally Queen officiating. Interment will be private for the family in Mount Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Bessemer City.
