STANLEY - Ralph Junior "R.J." Reid, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2013, from the Robin Johnson Hospice House.

He was born Feb. 4, 1929, and lived in Stanley most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Mae Garrison Reid, his father, Ralph L. Reid, his stepmother, Beulah Robinson Reid and a sister, Doro-thy Reid.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; was a faithful member of the Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was employed by Talon, Inc. in Stanley for 40 years. He loved and participated in all sports.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Ann Bradshaw Reid, son, Andy Reid and wife Bebe of Belmont, grandchildren Mary Carpenter and husband, Scott of Indian Trail, John Bass and wife Angie of Belmont, Jimmy Bass and wife Ashley of Charlotte; great-grandchildren Hannah, Josh, Jacob, Julia, Isabella and John Bass III; Kylie, Michael, and Ava Carpenter, and Jayden Campora; a brother, Ted Reid and wife Joyce of Stanley, sisters, Shirley Bradshaw of Stanley, Helen Cooper of Lincolnton, Ann Helms and husband Buck of Stanley, Shelby Puckett and husband Joe of Stanley; and many numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Dr. Danny Penny will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Entombment will follow in the Prayer Mausoleum at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
