Ralph was born on March 16, 1919, to Dovie Ardella and George Crawford Davis on a farm in Lincoln County.
Ralph served in the Army during World War II, then worked as a machinist for 30-years with Gossett Machine Co. He spent 38 years in retirement and enjoyed fishing for bass and crappies from his boat at the lake or for trout along mountain streams or for ocean fish in the surf of the Carolinas and Florida. Ralph spent much of his time farming, canning, tinkering, eating homemade food, driving a series of Chevrolet pickup trucks and watching his beloved Atlanta Braves.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of more than 62 years, Kay; and two sons, Billy and Gary; as well as nine brothers and sisters, Henry, Robert, Mildred, Sidney, James, Mary, Eunice, George and Georgia.
He is survived by one son, Keith Davis and wife Barbara; grandsons, David and William Chad; great-grandsons Brandon Davis, and twins Austin and Justin Davis; a very special caring and giving nephew, Larry Reid Davis; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews to include Libby and Bill Drum, Annette Whitesides, Peggy Plum, Tony Hovis, Willie May and Sinclair Bolick, and particularly Tom and Betty Davis who gave comfort to Ralph for many days at his bedside. Ralph also leaves behind neighbors and friends of more than 50 years, Jerry and Jo Dye, and Dicie Elliot.
Ralph will be greatly missed for his quick wit, humor, honesty, integrity and presence. His place at the head of the dining room table will be left empty this year in his remembrance.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff of Peak Resources for the professional but also compassionate and personal care given to "Pa" during his illness.
