IRON STATION - Richard Gary Povlich, 64, passed away March 9, 2014, at Caromont Medical Center in Gastonia.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1949, in New Brunswick, N.J., son of the late Clarence and Doris Povlich.
Mr. Povlich was employed by Duke Energy for 42 years. He also provided leadership to children with Stanley Recreation as a coach. As a lifelong member of Alexis Baptist Church he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, as well as other committees through the years.
He was a loving devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He passed of natural causes due to many years of complications with diabetes.
He was survived by his wife Stephanie Povlich; son Brian and daughter-in-law, Ora Povlich; daughter, Shannon Povlich; granddaughter, Rindi Povlich; and siblings Greg, Mike, and Penny.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother David Povlich.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a service at 4 p.m. at Alexis Baptist Church in Alexis, with the Revs. Jimmy Potts and Scott Jenkins officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
