LINCOLNTON - Robert Eugene "Gene" Payseur, 72, of 1033 Long Shoals Road, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Landers Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Herman, the Rev. Hinkle Rayfield and the Rev. Steven King officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Payseur was born Oct. 18, 1939 in Gaston County to the late Oscar Robert and Mary Naomi Rash Payseur. He worked in maintenance at Timken.
Mr. Payseur served in the United States Army Reserve until he was called back to the U.S. Army during the Cuban Crisis. From there, he was honora-bly discharged with the rank of sergeant. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Mason Lodge #263 in Dallas.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Neal Payseur of the home; two sons, Pete Payseur of Lincolnton and Sidney Vaughn Payseur of Bessemer City; one stepdaughter, Drenda Smith of the home; one brother, William Kenneth Payseur and wife Linda of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Daniel Von Payseur and Cassie Carrie Ann Payseur, both of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
