MOUNT HOLLY - Robert Edward Hudspeth Jr., 90, of 4716 Hickory Grove Road, died March 31, 2014, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Bill was born in Gaston County, son of the late Robert Edward Hudspeth and Sulla Hudspeth.

Bill was preceded in death by wife Sudie Cloninger Hudspeth an infant daughter, Wanda Kay Hudspeth.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Hudspeth and his wife, Susan Rhyne Hudspeth of Fayetteville, Pa. and Paul Hudspeth and his wife Susan Stone Hudspeth of Hendersonville; one grandson, David Hudspeth of Asheville and sister, Colleen Hudspeth of Mt Holly.
Bill was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, a survivor of WWII 356th fighter squadron in England, recipient of a one million mile safe driving award from Texaco, and a beloved member of the community. Dad passed away peacefully surrounded by family. We miss you dad.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hudspeth will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Kinman officiating.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston County, PO Box 3984 Gastonia NC 28054.
