GASTONIA - Roy Marr, 90, passed away Oct. 7, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care of Gastonia.

He was a native of Isabella, Tenn., son of the late Avery and Molly Hughes Marr.

He was the husband of the late Lona Hughes Marr, and was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Marr, Onilee Marr Meeks, and Ellavee Watson; and brothers, Cecil, Hoyt and Everette Marr.
Roy was an Army Veteran of WW II, attached to the 916th Field Artillery Battalion. He received the WW II Victory Medal, American Service Medal, and the European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was retired from Firestone Textiles after many years.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathleen Marr and Roma Dellinger of Gastonia, Bernice Marr Page of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Effie Mae Stewart of Cramerton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ward Funeral Service, 220 South Broad Street.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Four Seasons. The Rev. Kenneth Lane will officiate.

Military rites will be conducted by the Gaston County Honor Guard at the graveside.

Condolences may be sent to in care of the Marr family.
