CHERRYVILLE - Sara Nell Dill Beam, 88, of 111 Harrilson Road, formerly of Gastonia, died Oct. 7, 2012, at her residence.

Sara was born May 10, 1924, in Rutherford County, daughter of the late Frances Edgar Dill and Stella Corn Dill.

She was retired from Gaston County School System, teaching fourth grade at Robinson Elementary and Lowell Elementary Schools. She graduated from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky as Valevictorian of her graduating class. She was also a Sunday School Teacher at Alexis Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John B. "J. B." Beam and three brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Beam and Rebecca Cass, both of Gastonia, and her "Sunshine" Ethan Schronce, of Gastonia; two sisters, Mil-dred Cabaniss of Gaffney, S.C., Paulela Harrill of Rutherfordton, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bodenhamer officiat-ing.

Entombment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends from noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
