GASTONIA - Sara Catherine Clemmer Kendrick, 89, of 1351 Robinwood Road, passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2012, at her residence.

Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Augustus Clemmer Sr. and Edna Holland Clemmer.

Mrs. Kendrick received her formal education in the Spartanburg, S.C. schools. She was a secretary and member of Long Creek Baptist Church up until she married J. Ralph Kendrick in 1948. After she married Ralph, she became a homemaker caring for her husband and two daughters. She was a long-standing member of First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia where she was a former member of the choir.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kendrick was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon A. Clemmer, Jr.

Mrs. Kendrick is survived by her husband of 64 years, J. Ralph Kendrick; daughters, Priscilla K. Quinn and husband, Doug of Gastonia, and Molly K. Randolph and husband, Johnny of Kings Mountain; grandson, Robert Lee Benton, Jr. of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Christine Clemmer of Dallas; niece, Gale Hamrick and husband, Mark of Polkville; nephew, Vernon Augustus "Gus" Clemmer III of Dallas.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitations from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at Covenant Village and from 6 until 8 p.m. at McLean Funeral Di-rectors of Gastonia.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia.

The Rev. Dr. John L. Frye Jr. and Pastor John H. Stanley will officiate.

A private interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
