EDGEWATER, Fla. - Sarah Oates Pennington, age 82, of Edgewater, Fla., formerly of Cramerton, died Sept. 25, 2012, at the Southeast Volusia Care Center of Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.

She was born in Dallas on July 12, 1930.
Sarah came to Edgewater in 2008 from Tallahassee, Fla., where she retired as a courier for Leon County Schools. A former member of New Life Minis-tries in Tallahassee, she enjoyed family, cooking, reading, and nature.
Mrs. Pennington was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Oates, husband of 61 years, Vance H. Pennington, and son-in-law, Paul Gaskin.
Survivors include a son, Donald and wife, Irene of Gastonia; two daughters, Libby Malmberg and husband, Rex of Edgewater and LCDR Tonie Gas-kin, widow of Paul Gaskin, of Chesapeake, Va.; four brothers, Troy Oates of Fayetteville, Roger Oates of Charlotte, Walter Oates of Gastonia, and Gene "Little Brother" Oates of Supply; a sister, Katherine Walker of Ft. Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren, Donald Jr., Craig, David, Stephen, Sarah Ann and Stepha-nie; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A service to celebrate Sarah's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Founders Chapel of Mclean Funeral Directors of Gastonia
with the Rev. Jake Beaty officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, prior to the service.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorials to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Fl. 32129 for the
Southeast Volusia Care Facility.
