JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sue Heafner Ghantt, 85, passed away at her residence on Aug. 5, 2014.

She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Hildebrand Heafner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott William Ghantt; sisters, Ruby Heafner, Frances Austin and Juanita Cook; brothers, John, Robert, Jack and Eugene; she was involved for many years in after school care at Gaston Christian School; a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in McAdenville;
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Ghantt of Jacksonville; Martha Flowers of Franklin, TN; sons, David Ghantt of Jacksonville; Tommy (Sherry) Ghantt of Gastonia; grandchildren and spouses, Todd (Jamie) Ghantt, Jamie (McKenzie) Ghantt, Michael (Victoria) Bell, Mary Bell, Katie (David) Ward, Bella Ghantt; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kendall Ghantt, Lauren Ghantt, Issac and Isiah Ghantt, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ward Funeral Service, 220 South Broad Street, Gastonia, conducted by the Rev. Virgil "Buck" Harper.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. before the service and at other times at the home of Tommy Ghantt, 4401 Farmbrook Road, Gastonia.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery in Penrose, N.C., by the Rev. Chris Farmer.
