MOUNT HOLLY-- Ted Ervin Horton, "Cheetah", age 82, of Mount Holly, NC passed September 12, 2018 at Gaston Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.
A Mount Holly native, he was the eldest son of the late Wylie and Margaret Horton and is survived by sons Alan Horton and Jonathan Horton, brother Jimmy Horton, sister Gearlene Hoffman; and was pre-deceased by brothers Tony and Ricky Horton, and sister Brenda Drumm.
After graduating from Mount Holly High School ("Biggest Flirt" class of '55) and service in the Navy Reserves, he worked professionally as a welder, contributing to the construction of the McGuire nuclear station. In his off time he was a beloved local musician, golfer, gardener, astrologer, gold prospector, pyramidologist, and all around character.
An imitable spirit, he'll be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, unconventionality, and general enthusiasm, by the many who compose a kaleidoscope of relationships, built over a lifetime.
The family will receive all who would like to join in celebrating his life with a visitation 2pm to 4pm Friday September 21, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church (140 N. Main St, Mount Holly) followed by a service at Pineview Cemetery (615 W. Catawba Ave., Mount Holly). Memorials and flowers should be delivered to the First United Methodist Church on Friday.
