BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Tommy Lee, beloved husband and best friend of Kelley Pezzella, passed away on March 8, 2013, at their home after a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Riverbend, (now Mt. Holly) to Bobbie Garner and Troy Jordon Lee.
Tommy attended Mt. Holly High School (now East Gaston High School) and was a graduate of the NC Voca-tional Textile School (now NC Center for Applied Textile Technology, Gaston College). He also served in the Air National Guard. Tommy was a sales representative for Independent Life Insurance for over 18 years and held many other sales positions in his life. He was an entrepreneur with his most recent venture being Tommy Lee Home Watch Service. He was a former member of the Mt. Holly Jaycees, a Volunteer Fireman with the Mt. Holly Fire Department and also volunteered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
He loved to spend time on his boat in any nearby body of water, whether it was Lake Norman or the Gulf of Mexico. Tommy could enter a room full of people he did not know and walk out with 10 new friends. He truly cared about his fellow man and was always willing to help anyone he could. Friends will remember him as someone who was grateful for every sunrise and made the very most of his time on earth.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Kelley Pezzella; daughter, Melonee Lee (David) Turbeville and grandson, Anthony Justin Lee Turbeville, all of Charlotte; two sisters, Harriet Brown and her husband, Rance Kirkland of Mt. Holly and Carolyn Long of Oak Island; sister-in-law, Norma Hunter Lee of Mt. Holly; brother-in-law, Corey (Tonja) Morrell of Ft. Mill, S.C., Kenneth Pezzella of Arlington, Va., Sheree (David) DiMario of New Haven, Conn., Ben (Laura) Pezzella of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C. and 20 nieces and nephews and his two beloved cats, Cammie and Buddy. He is also survived by the following adopted family members: Mark Edwards and Kellie Brown, Ted and Merica Greer, Jim Burns, Randy and Emily King, Arthur Gerstein, Donna Kacheline, Eddie Perez, Gennell Kessler and Joe Roper.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Franklin Lee.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cove Church in Mooresville. Following will be a brief graveside service at New Covenant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Holly.
Tommy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Holly, NC.
