MOUNT HOLLY - Vernon Roger Heffner "Ham," 72, of 135 Family Lane, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Theodore Clinton Heffner "Pete" and Bonnie May Thomas Heffner.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Heffner. He was a retired truck driver and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Gowens Heffner; two daughters, Sheri Heffner of the home, and Bonnie Heffner Winkler and her husband, Gary, of Mount Holly; one brother, Theron Robert Heffner; three grandchildren, Danielle Nichole Johnson and her fiancé James of Stanley, James Enoch Pax-ton IV and Tristin Lee Winkler, both of Mount Holly; one great-grandchild, Izaiah Joseph Clubb; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His children and grandchildren were the pride of his life.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Heffner will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at The Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly with the Rev. John Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery in North Belmont.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
