GASTONIA - Veronica "Vera" Kay Gabor Glavach, 97, died peacefully on March 25, 2013, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas.

Born November 3, 1915, she was a native of Yugoslavia, daughter of the late Joseph Gabor and Veronica Zavec Gabor Markoja.

She and her husband came to this country from Yugoslavia with no education and started a successful construction business in Michigan. She had strong educational values and a strong work ethic, which she instilled into her children and grandchildren. She was very artistic and enjoyed making shell flower arrangements and was known for her famous strudel. She was very devoted to her family and was a loving mother, grand-mother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia Founders Chapel with Deacons John Weisenhorn and Art Kingsley officiating.

Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

Survivors include her children, Joseph Glavach and wife, Inez of Boca Raton, FL., Dr. Matthew Glavach and wife, Zoe of Cloverdale, CA., Dr. Patricia Skinner of Gastonia; grandchildren, Crissy Moxley, Angie Cherry and husband, Timothy, Mark Glavach and wife, Lisa, Greg Glavach and Linda Glavach; great-grandchildren, Cole and Madeline Moxley, Kaylyn Cherry, Matthew Glavach and wife, Kaylee, Kasey Norton and husband Casey, and Christopher Glavach; great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Glavach, Hannah and Grayson Norton, Kaleb and Kara Glavach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Glavach.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Morningside Assisted Living, Crissy Moxley, Gaston Hospice, The Robin Johnson House and Gaston Memorial Hospital staff for their special care given to Vera. She also appreciated the support that she received from St. Michael's Catholic Church.
