GASTONIA - Virginia Mae McArver, 90, of Courtland Terrace, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Gaston County to the late Mason Pressley and Zula Thomas McArver.
Virginia was retired from Gaston County Police Department and was an Avon representative for 48 years. She was a member of Olney Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice McArver Hoffman; her brothers; Frank, Neal, Charles, Mason, E.P., Ralph and Harry McArver. Harry was killed in World War II and was survived by his son, Henry Mason McArver, now deceased.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pisgah ARP Church Cemetery, and a memorial service will follow at noon at Olney Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Cockerham officiating.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the church.

Virginia is survived by a cousin, Martha Thomas Robinson, of Gastonia; and special friends, Debbie and Steve Nelson and Carolyn Robinson.
