GASTONIA - Virginia McAbee, 90, passed away June 9, 2012 at Alexandria Place in Gastonia.
She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Greenville County, S.C., by the late James Willie and Lindsay Beatrice McAllister. Mrs. McAbee was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Dallas.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, NC, officiated by Pastor Chris Doster. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
She is survived by her sons, Wendell McAbee and spouse Chae of Kings Mountain, Bobby McAbee and spouse Jan of Edgemont; daughter, Mary Beane of Kings Mountain; brother, Charles Raymond McAbee and spouse Fanny of Gastonia; sisters Audray Montez Harris of Gastonia, Shirley Ruth Webb and spouse Jack of Beaumont, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn McAbee; her son, Wayne McAbee; two brothers and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984 Gastonia, NC 28054.
