ANDREWS, S.C. - Wade Alonzo Carter Jr., 60, died Oct. 12, 2012, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C.

Mr. Carter was born in Gastonia on Aug. 13, 1952, son of the late Wade Alonzo Carter Sr. and Emo Irene Austin Carter.

He grew up in Gastonia and graduated from South Point High School. Mr. Carter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the Uni-versity of South Carolina and was an employee of the S.C. Dept. of Social Services. He was an avid Gamecock fan and a member of the Georgetown County, S.C. Gamecock Club.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Watts Carter of Andrews; a daughter, Meredith Carter of Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Irene Hull (Kermit) of Gastonia; and a brother, Miles Carter of Belmont.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
