GASTONIA - Wayne Stanley Reid Sr., 75, joined his Heavenly Father on April 27, 2013.

He is the son of the late Everette R. Reid and Annabelle Featherstone Reid of Lowell.

He was a career employee and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway and served as Secretary and Treasurer of Local Lodge 524 for 30 years. He was a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Lowell Masonic Lodge 590. He was also a US Air Force Veteran.

A loving husband, dad, and grandpa, he is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Johnnie Brafford Reid and their son, Wayne S. Reid, Jr. and wife Erika Evans Reid and granddaughter Ember Elizabeth Reid. Brother Everette R. Reid, Jr., Sisters Daphene Reid Allran, Carolyn Reid Starnes, and Annette Reid Carpenter.

The Reid Family would like to express a special thanks to all of the wonderful staff at the Liberty Lane Hospice House at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury for the excellent care they provided Wayne.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday followed with funeral service at 2 p.m., both at McLean's Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia with Military Honors provided by The Gaston County Honor Guard and Masonic Rites pro-vided by Gaston County Masonic Members.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Lane Hospice House, Building 43 at W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
