MOORESVILLE - Zelma Loy Heyworth, 70, of Mooresville, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1942, in Goldsboro, to the late Mary Ruth Hoyle Bryant and William Thomas Loy. She was a graduate of Williams High School in Burlington and the Technical College of Alamance. She was retired from Dixie Communications and Metrolina Communications of Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edward Heyworth; stepfather, Clyde Bryant; and stepsister, Clydie Faye Moser.
She is survived by her children, Todd Heyworth and wife, Kristie, of Mooresville, Darlene "Dart" Truesdale and husband, Bruce, of Bessemer City; sister, Kathy Lane and husband, Jerry, of Mebane, and Melinda McDaries and husband, Mac, of Boiling Springs, S.C.; brothers, Tommy Loy and wife, Sheila, of Graham, and the Rev. Samuel Loy and wife, Wanda, of Lake Waccamaw; stepbrother, Benny Bryant and wife, Rose, of Henrico; grandchildren, Joshua Simmons and wife, Ericka, Jessica Spaur, and Jennifer Postell and husband, Christopher; and great-grandchildren, Zackary, Taylor, Brice and Colton.
A celebration of her life will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Samuel W. Loy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
