GASTONIA - Zeno Bascum Lancaster Jr., 84, passed away Oct. 23, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was a resident at Abingdon Place in Gastonia, and was formerly of Mill Spring. He served in the US Navy. He was a member and deacon of Coo-pers Gap Baptist Church. He was also known as "The Bear Man" for his love.

He was born on April 17, 1928 in Rutherfordton. He was the son of the late Zeno Bascum and Essie Hyder Lancaster.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Katherine Lorraine Barnes Lancaster. Other survivors include his daughters, Linda Hoyle and husband Grady, of Belmont; Wanda Starnes and husband Mike, of Gastonia; Pamela Bumgardner and husband Rodney, of Boone; son Zeno Bascum Lancaster III of Gas-tonia; brothers Robert Lancaster of Huntersville; Ervin Lancaster and wife Inez, of Gastonia; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eunice Saine, Lillian Silvers; brothers, Claude Lancaster,
Forest Lancaster, Frank Lancaster, Clyde Lancaster, Carl Lancaster and James Lancaster.

The family will receive friends 4 p.m. Wednesday at Abingdon Place in Gastonia and also from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring.

The service to remember ZB will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
