MOUNT HOLLY - Banner Hager Blackwell, 86, of 318 Walnut Ave., passed away Nov. 22, 2011, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

A native of Gaston County, she was daughter of the late T.O. and Lorene Howard Hager.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Otis Hager Brown of Belmont, and two brothers, T.C. Hager of Charlotte and Burmah Hager of Mount Holly.

She was a graduate of Mount Holly High School, and was retired from the textile industry.
Banner was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was a member of Mount Holly Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband James L. Blackwell, a son Roger D. Blackwell and wife Faye of Lake Wylie, SC, a daughter Donna B. Simmers and hus-band Joe of Hampton, VA., two sisters Ms. Betty Cherry of Belmont, Ms. Geneva Bennett of Charlotte, a brother Roland Hager and wife Charlene of Stanley, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service to celebrate her life, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Carlyle, will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Gardens.

The family will receive friends 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
