GASTONIA - Archie Delane VonCannon, 65, died unexpectedly on April 29, 2013, while working in Morristown, N.J.

He was born May 10, 1947, in Concord, son of Minnie Belle Mauney VonCannon and the late Albert Columbus VonCannon.

Archie was a graduate of Kings Business College in Charlotte, and served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. For most of his career, Archie worked in Industrial Tool sales. He was most recently with Air Power, Inc. A few years ago he received his CDL to begin work as a truck driver; something he had always wanted to do. He was employed by Truck Service, Inc. in Forest City, NC. Archie lived his life with integrity and when he said he would do something, one could depend on him to do it. He had a great sense of humor, never met a stranger, enjoyed working in his yard with his flowers, and was a proud father of his sons' accomplishments. He was a loving husband, father, and devoted grand-father.

In addition to his mother, Archie is survived by his loving wife, Gail Jenkins VonCannon of Gastonia; sons, Chad VonCannon and wife Faith of Concord; Chad Jenkins and wife Shannon of Sahuarita, AZ; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Karen VonCannon of Charlotte; grandchil-dren, Luke and Eli VonCannon; Zoey and Riley Jenkins; godchildren, Lander and Tori Maness; and by nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A service to celebrate Archie's life will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Revs. David Clippard and Jeremy Hyde officiating.

Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Rites provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256,
