GASTONIA - Clyde Reeves "Dick" Anthony, 98, passed away June 30, 2013 at Terrace Ridge.

A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Andrew and Hattie Anthony, husband of 73 years to the late Velma Blanche Freeman An-thony.
Dick dedicated his life to supporting his family. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church and retired from Southern Railway after 25 years of service. Although he didn't take up golf until his sixties, he was an avid golfer and reigning Best 2-Ball champ at Lincoln Country Club.
He is survived by his children and their spouses; Helen and Yates Gilbert of Charlotte, Jack Lee and Gordon Ella Anthony of Charlotte, Geor-gette and Brice Warren of Gastonia, Alice Karen Killday of Colorado Springs, CO; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons; Joel Reeves Anthony, RET Sgt. Maj. US Army, and Roger W. Anthony; brothers, Boyd "Bee" Anthony, Ernest "Shine" Anthony; sisters, Lennie Inez Hartsoe, Nel Merrill, Ruth Gardner.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia.
A funeral service will follow in the Founder's Chapel with the Rev. Dick Whitener officiating.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
