DALLAS - Joan Marie Russell Clemmer, 76, died March 23, 2014, at Courtland Terrace.

She was born July 31, 1937, in Gastonia, a daughter of the late Bert James and Ardie Lambert Rusell.
Mrs. Clemmer retired from Goodwill Publishing and was a longtime member of Rankin Lake Baptist Church where she was active in the adult senior Sunday School class. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors of Joan include her husband of 56 years, Joe Mac Clemmer; daughter, Lynn Nix, both of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Mac and Lorrie Clemmer; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Carolyn Russell, all of Crouse, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Reita and Thomas L. Fitzpatrick of AL; grandchildren, Angel Battles, Lauren Nix, and Stephen Clemmer; numerous great-grandchildren; nephew Eric Clemmer and other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Courtland Terrace for their care and support of Joan and her family.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Rev. Jim Loftis officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.
