BELMONT - Cynthia "Sindy" Neagle Maxwell, 60, passed away March 30, 2014, at her home.

Sindy graduated from Gaston Day School and UNC Chapel Hill.

She had an extensive career in the legal community as a mitigation consultant and the owner of HomeView; a court-appointed consultant and advocate for placement of battered and abused children. She was board member of The Heart Association of Gaston County, The Belmont Merchants Association, The Keep Belmont Beautiful, a member of the first graduating class of Leadership Gaston, Junior League where she served as President. Sindy served seventeen years on the Belmont Planning, Zoning and Adjustments Board, she was a client advocate for Legal Aid of Southern Piedmont located in Charlotte NC, an early developer of the Guardian Ad Litem program for Gaston, Cleveland and Lincoln counties, she was a Gaston County Democratic Party delegate.

She is the daughter of the late Emmit Orr Neagle and survived by her mother, Nettie McCaslin Neagle, Daughter, Margaret Waggoner and ex-tended family members.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 2 p.m. at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont.

Celebration of life service will be 3 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Bumgardner Chapel.

Interment will be at Evergreen "A Quiet Place" following the service
