DALLAS - Dessie Lillian Johnson, 99, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014, at Caro Mont Regional Medical Center.

Born in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Columbus Panther and Fannie Love Panther.

Mrs. Johnson was a longstanding member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church where she was active in the Ladies Sunday school class. In 1951, she along with her husband, Arthur, started Long Creek Fish Camp which to this day, is still managed by the Johnson family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Arthur Eugene Johnson; daughter, Patricia John-son; eleven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Don Terry Johnson and Patty Johnson, and Harold Dean Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. Chastain and Richard Chastain; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends of Mrs. Johnson are invited to attend her visitation beginning at 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A private family graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Shaw officiating.
