Stephen Michael Stroud, 70, passed away at his home on May 31, 2014.

He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Clarence Stroud and Delphia Schultz Stroud.
Mr. Stroud was a World Class Backgammon Player. He was also a Golden Gloves Fly Weight Boxing champion in the southeastern region of NC from 1960-1962 as well as a Champion Roller Hockey Player in Gaston County in the late 1950s.
He enjoyed entertaining family and friends; he was also an avid sports spectator, specializing in statis-tical analysis, and was a fine quality smoking aficionado.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Todd Stroud.
Surviving are his sons, Randy Stroud of Alexis, NC and Joshua Stroud of Gastonia; daughter Rhonda Canipe and husband, Daniel Canipe of Lincolnton; brother, Bobby Stroud of Mt. Holly and grandchil-dren, Jeremy, Chasity, J.T., Robbie, Rachel, Trevor, and Auren Stroud; great-grandchildren, Xavier and Justin Hood; Elijah, Todd and Zakkary Stroud.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held 5 to 9 p.m. June 14 at Michael's home.
