HICKORY – Larry Jackson Patterson, 70, of Hickory, formerly of Cherryville, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Springs of Catawba.
Mr. Patterson was born July 23, 1943 in Cleveland County to the late James Yancey Patterson and Lib-by Allen Patterson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Leatherman Patterson.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War, was a member of First Baptist Church Lincolnton and was previously employed by Carolina Freight and Lincoln County Government in information technology.
Survivors include two sons, David Patterson and wife Kerri of Apex, N.C. and Doug Patterson and wife Amy of Hickory, a brother, Jim Patterson and wife Linda of Shelby, N.C., grandchildren; Gary Patterson, Amanda Patterson, Christopher Patterson and Carson Patterson.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in the, William E. "Jack" Bass, Jr. Memorial Building, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Stanley Spence and Rev. Phillip C. Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends in the same building from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service.
