MARIETTA, Ga. - Dorothea Wells Wilson, 93, formerly of Gastonia, passed away peacefully at her home on June 6, 2014.

Born in Bryson City, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Howard Burton Wells and Stella Wardrep Wells.
Mrs. Wilson worked at Robinson Mills, Matthews Belk and Sears where she retired after 20 years of service as a Decorator. A longstanding member of First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia, Mrs. Wilson was a former deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, choir member, Circle 3 member and Past President of the Women of the Church. She also served as a board member of the Presbytery of Western North Carolina and was active in the Bakers Dozen Walking Group.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Algie William Wilson; five brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Nancy Wilson of Johns Creek, GA; granddaughters, Allie and Laura Wilson; brother-in-law, Dave Emerson of Long Beach, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends of Mrs. Wilson are invited to attend her visitation beginning 1 p.m. Thursday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with her funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in Founders Chapel. Pastor John Stanley and Rev. Lauren Sease Vanacore will officiate.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
