MOORESVILLE - Clayton G. Asbury Sr., 76, passed away June 16, 2014, at Churchill Assisted Living.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1937, in Washington, D.C., to the late Margaret Asbury.

Clayton was a veteran serving in the US Army. He was a graduate of NC State University and a retired chemist for Burlington Industries. Clayton was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mooresville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Hall Liner Asbury.

He is survived by his sons, Clayton Asbury Jr., Gregory Asbury; step-children, Danny Liner and wife, Debbie, Dee Ann Bowers and husband, Mike; sister, Betty Elders; brother, RV Asbury; mother of his sons, Margaret Asbury; step grandchildren, Brent Liner and wife, Nancy, Daren Liner, Luke Bowers; and step great grandchildren, Marissa, Jacob, and Lucas.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at Southside Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Ball, Steve Gouge, and Hal Greene officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society NC Chapter, 4530 Park Road, Suite 240, Charlotte, NC 28209.
