GASTONIA - Donald Kermit "Don" Carter, 77, died June 19, 2014.

Born in Dallas, he was the son of the late George Carroll Carter and Bryte Ballard Carter.
Mr. Carter was a 1958 graduate of the UNC School of Pharmacy. He was the former owner of Lowell Drug and retired from the pharmacy department at Walmart in Cherryville. A longstanding member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church, Mr. Carter taught the T.S. Summey Sunday school class, served as chairman of the Deacon Board and the Finance Committee, and was a member of the Baptist Men's Group. An avid Tar Heel fan, Mr. Carter served as Vice President of the Dallas Senior's Group.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his brothers, Carroll Carter and Bob Carter.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Janice Lackey Carter; daughters, Sandra Lynn Carter of Troutville, VA and Mary Catherine Carter of Raleigh; sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Ray Cloninger of Dallas.
Family and friends of Mr. Carter are invited to attend his memorial service beginning 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Long Creek
Memorial Baptist Church. Pastor Jim Shaw will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
