BESSEMER CITY - Doris Jenkins Woodard, 81, died Jan. 23, 2010, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.

Born Dec. 20, 1928, in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late William and Alcie Hutchins Jenkins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willard Roy Woodard; brothers, Frank and John Jenkins; and sister, Myrtle Clayton.
Doris was a former employee of McBess Industries in Bessemer City and later retired from Hayward Pools in Kings Mountain. She attended New Life Baptist Church. Doris had a beautiful spirit of giving and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Roy Woodard and wife Brenda of Kings Mountain; longtime companion, Willie Stubblefield of Bessemer City; brothers, Jim Jenkins and wife Nancy, Bill Jenkins and wife Ethel, all of Canton, N.C.; sister, Christine Putnam of Canton; grandson, Bill Woodard and wife Rae of Gastonia; granddaughter, Shelly Ahr and husband Clayton of Cincinnati; great-grandson, Brandon Ahr.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at New Life Baptist Church, Bessemer City with Dr. Gene Ware and the Rev. Dick Whitener officiating. Interment will follow in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Monday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City.
