DALLAS - Joyce Petty Kitchin, 81, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main.

A native of Stanley, she was the daughter of the late Junior and Verdie Medlin Petty. She was a long-time member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, loved to knit and enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Stutts of Dallas and Susan Jones Ratcliffe of Hawaii; sisters, Coleen Petty Williams of Gastonia, Betty P. Sasser of Gastonia, Sara P. Mullinax of Stanley; grandchildren, Travis Stutts, Courtney (Kim) Stutts, Ian Ratcliffe, Jade Ratcliffe, Joey (Merrily) Brackett, Jesse Brack-ett and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands, James Edmond Jones and Alfred Henry Kitchen Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Jones Brackett; grandchild, Jamie Stutts; brother, Max E. Petty and sister, Nancy Yarborough.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Flint Groves Baptist Church. Pastors Ronnie Bowers and Larry Bradley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
