BESSEMER CITY - Lucy Boozer Cochcroft, 88, passed away July 26, 2012, at Covenant Village, Gastonia, where she resided for the past 11 years.

She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Newberry, S.C., to the late Eldridge Stanmore and Maggie Crooks Boozer.
Lucy was an active member in First Baptist Church of Bessemer City as well as in the community. She was a teacher and librarian at Bessemer City schools for 21 years.
Lucy is survived by her sons, Ronny Cochcroft of Bessemer City, Douglas Cochcroft of Gastonia; daughter, Susan Cochcroft Newton of Charlotte; sisters, Sophie Harris of Duncan, SC, Doreene Ragsdale of Greenville, SC, Helen Re-pasky of Struthers, Ohio; grandchildren, Ron Cochcroft, Kellie Cochcroft Siders, Joey Cochcroft, Matthew Newton, Paige Newton Prichard, Stephen Cochcroft, Stacy Cochcroft; great-grandchildren, Lucy Cochcroft, Hannah Siders, Jake Siders, Grace Siders, Emily Martin, Lily Cochcroft, Raleigh Prichard, Carter Prichard.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Roy L. Cochcroft; sons, Stephen Alan Cochcroft, Michael Albert Cochcroft; one sister; three brothers.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with the Revs. A. A. Bailey and Steve Weaver officiating.
Visitation will be held 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Covenant Village, Gastonia and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home, Bessemer City.
