GASTONIA - Christine Grant Stiles Hedgepeth, 86, passed away Aug. 8, 2012, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

She was a native of Swain County, daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Grant Grant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hedgepeth in 2007.

Christine came to Gastonia in 1944 to begin her career with National Weaving Company and later Beau Knit Mills. She later worked with her sister, Vergie Walls at Pinnacle Electric for 17 years where she retired. She was a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church for 25 years where she served as a Sun-day school teacher and sang in the senior choir. She also taught Sunday school at Courtland Terrace. She lived a great Christian life.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, H.C. and Jean Stiles of Cherryville; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Mark Cloninger of Dallas; sis-ters, Vergie Walls of Gastonia and Margaret Smith of Mount Holly; brother, Homer Grant of Gastonia; 12 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Gaston Memorial Hospital and the staff of Robin Johnson House.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Flint Groves Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Larry Bradley.

Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ward Funeral Service, 220 South Broad Street, Gastonia.

Pallbearers will be Chris Burell, Scott Ogle, Robbie Smith, Robert and Roy Stiles, and Jeremy Haynes.

Honoraries will be Josh and Raymond Grant and Matthew Ogle.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Robin Johnson House, 1505 Gaston Way, Dallas, NC 28034.
