GASTONIA - Carter Emerson Bond, 76, passed away Dec. 19, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Olean, N.Y., to the late Dwight Truman and Emma Virginia Brown Bond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Betty Bond and step brother, Fred Way.
Carter was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Joy Club. He was a retired tool maker and a US Air Force veteran. He was known for his sense of humor and wit which always made everyone feel at ease. Carter was an avid supporter of WSGE radio and ETV. He always had a love for all animals and in his early years enjoyed all forms of motor racing.
Carter was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Chapman Bond; daughter, Cathy Wallace, husband Robert and granddaughters, Rachel and Claire; daughter, Christy Bond and granddaughter Lydia; daughter, Sarah Starnes, husband Andy and granddaughter, Emma.
The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Dr. Ray Ammons officiating.
Entombment will be in Gaston Memorial Park immediately after the service.
