BELMONT - Virginia Virl Davis Arrowood, 98, died Dec. 30, 2012, at her home.

She was born May 27, 1914, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Albert Edward and Kate Helms Davis.

Mrs. Arrowood worked at the Chronicle Plant of R.L. Stowe Mills and was a member of Crossroads Wesleyan, formerly Catawba Heights Wesleyan Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Arrowood; son, Phillip Dean Arrowood; daughters, Linda "Cookie" A. Stone and Brenda Arrowood; and by her brothers Claude and Irvington Lee Davis.

Survivors of Mrs. Arrowood include her daughters, Connie Arrowood; Millie Fisher, both of Belmont; son, James Arrowood of Florence, SC; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont with the Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery after the service.
