KINGS MOUNTAIN - Odell Lane, 91, passed away Feb. 2, 2013, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain.

A native of Dillon, S.C., he was born Jan. 8, 1922, son of the late Clarence Lee Lane and Maude Lane.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Ruth Cox Lane; second wife, Ora Leah Cranshaw; brother C.L. Lane; and Grandmaw Lane.

Mr. Lane was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Wilmington and a U.S. Marine veteran who served during World War II.

He loved to serve in veteran's parades, and loved photography and gospel music. He sang and played the mandolin, and sang in different churches and rest homes.
Odell is survived by his sons, Ronnie Lane and wife Paula, Melvin Lane and wife Melody, all of Gastonia; daughter, Pamela Lane Adams of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service, officiated by a military chaplain, will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury on Wednesday.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
