GASTONIA - Elmer Etters Goforth, 93, of Gastonia, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Gastonia.

He was a native of York County, S.C., and the son of the late John Fulton Goforth and Katie Jane Sheppard Goforth.
Mr. Goforth retired from Duke Power with more than 34 years of service. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Linwood Presbyterian Church in Gastonia.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Rev. Lewis Gunn Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at McLean Funeral Directors, prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
Survivors include his sons, Preston Hall Goforth and Mark Douglas Goforth; daughter, Susan G. Denny and husband, Lester L. Denny; and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Wearn Goforth; two brothers; and four sisters.
