LAKE WYLIE, S.C. - Mildred Wright Neagle, 103, passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2013, at her home.

A native of Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late David W. Wright and Hannah Jane Wilson of the South Point community.

Mildred was a 1928 graduate of Belmont High School and attended the North Carolina College for Women, now UNC- Greensboro.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Belmont where she was awarded a lifetime membership and a Special Mission Recognition in the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member and the first president of the Belmont Garden Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Neagle Huffstetler of the home; son, Edwin Yates Neagle, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Morehead City, special nephew, Herman Teeter and wife Sue of Gastonia; grandchildren, Evans H. Leslie and husband Roger of Lansing, NC, Jane H. Cloninger and husband Randy of Henderson, NC, Julia H. MacRae and husband Jim of Fayetteville, NC, Edwin Yates Neagle III and wife Rebecca of Raleigh, Jayna Marie Neagle and husband Sam Ruff of Montclair, NJ, John Hewitt Neagle and wife Laura of Pittsboro, NC; great grandchildren, Kate Leslie, Erin Leslie, Josh Cloninger, Brian Cloninger, Mary Katherine MacRae, Jim MacRae, Coyt Neagle, Jace Neagle, Bailey Ruff, Anna Ruff; great-great-grandchildren, Ryder, Shane and Merritt Cloninger. She is also survived by great nephews Morris and Oren Teeter; great niece, Paula Phillips and many extended family.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Yates Neagle Sr.; three brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Thomas Huffstetler.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, Belmont.

A funeral service celebrating Mildred's life will begin at 3 p.m., officiated by Dr. Chuck Baker.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
