STANLEY - Beatrice Messer Putnam, 86, of Stanley, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at The Robin Johnson House with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late Dock and Linda Messer.
Mrs. Putnam retired from Peerless Spinning Company, Lowell after 30 years of service. She was a member of Community Pentecostal Center, Stanley. Mrs. Putnam was one of 12 siblings, and her survivors included five generations.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Robin Johnson house for their love and care given to Mrs. Putnam.
Mrs. Putnam is survived by two sons, Billy Ray Putnam and wife, Donna Lynn, of Lowell, Roger Mark Putnam and wife, Regina, of Clover; daughter-in-law, Judy Putnam, of Lyman, S.C.; two sisters, Myrtle McEwen, of Lowell, Obera Wilkinson of McAdenville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at Community Pentecostal Center, 320 Ralph Handsel Blvd., Stanley with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Eddie McGinnis officiating.
Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
Mrs. Putnam was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Warren Hardin Putnam Sr.; one son, War-ren Hardin "Gene" Putnam Jr.; and nine brothers and sisters.
