GASTONIA - R. Fred Hamme, 82, passed away Sept. 24, 2013, at Peak Resources in Gastonia.

He was a native of Gaston County and the son of the late Joseph L. Hamme and Mae Dale Hamme.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park.
Fred was the owner of Hamme's Motorcycle Dealership in Gastonia for over 48 years. He owned over twenty motorcycle franchises and two automobile franchises.
Fred was a US Navy Korean War Veteran, first serving aboard the USS Manchester, then serving aboard the submarine USS Medregal. He loved motorcycles and motorcycle racing. He enjoyed all animals, especially their horse Speck and would often ride his John Deere tractor out in the woods to feed the wildlife.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Barber Hamme, daughters, Robin Hamme, Jodi Hamme Caughey and husband Heath, granddaughter Haylee Caughey and brother, Joe Hamme.
