KINGS MOUNTAIN - Cynthia Sue "Cindy" Pasour Hovis, of Kings Mountain, 55, died on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at her home. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Donald Pasour. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kings Mountain where she has served as an elder and member of the choir. She was a master gardener, member of the Southern Arts Society, loved creative writing and had a regular gardening column in "Gaston Alive!" She received her masters degree from Winthrop University. Cindy also enjoyed cooking and baking and loved teaching and helping others. She retired from Kings Mountain District Schools where she taught at Kings Mountain High School.

She is survived by her sons, Miles Hovis, of Somerville, Mass and Ryan Hovis of Greensboro; mother, Evelyn Carver Miles of Bessemer City; sisters, Beth Goins and husband Rick of Belmont and Lois Gardener and husband Lyndy of Bessemer City; and brother, Sam Pasour and wife Melissa of Bessemer City.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Greg Martin will officiate.
Visitation will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Monday Harris Funeral Home.
