GASTONIA - James E. Craig, 88, beloved husband of Lee Craig, passed away April 29, 2014.

He was born in Maxton, N.C. on March 14, 1926, to the late E.D. Craig and Sarah Patterson Craig.

Mr. Craig proudly served his country, serving in the US Army, during WWII.

He graduated from Erskine College where he met and married Lee, the love of his life.

After college, he worked at his father's automobile dealership, Craig Motor Company where he became part owner until retirement.
He was a life long member and deacon of First ARP Church in Gastonia.

His many life passions included golfing, fishing, woodworking, and his family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Pat Craig.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lee Craig, son, Mike Craig (Beth) of Gastonia, daughters, Cathy Craig Neil (Mark) of Sumter, SC, Mary-Ann Craig Matthews (Greg) of Gastonia, grandchildren, Daniel Craig, Anna Craig, Sara Neil and Dustin Matthews; brothers, David S. Craig of Gastonia and Reverend Kenneth P. Craig of Huntersville.

Visitation will be at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, with service immediately following at 11 a.m. in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with the Rev. Matt Kuiken officiating.

Interment will be private.
