Robert Cloninger Obituary
A native of Gaston County, Mr. Cloninger was son of the late Cleveland Sloan and Beulah Craig Cloninger. He was a member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church in Dallas.
Surviving are his wife Sylvia Helms Cloninger; son Robert D. Cloninger, Jr. and granddaughter Kendal Cloninger; daughter Dana C. Whitesides and husband Jeffrey H. Whitesides; granddaughters Jordan and Morgan Whitesides; a sister Linda Lowman of York, S.C.
Graveside services will be private at Gaston Memorial Park with Reverend Charles Ledford officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Robin Johnson House, 5005 Shepherd's Way Drive, Dallas, NC 28034
A Simple Service, burial and cremation, is serving the family 704-884-0150.

We are so sorry for your loss. Dan was a best friend to Joe and brought us great comfort when we got to go see Joe. Most of the time Dan was there in the end. We were aware of what he did for Joe and what a true friend he was to him. You should be so proud. I just have to say that about him. How loyal he was to his friends and how he stood by Joe and our family. Now they are reunited in Heaven. Sylvia, please know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bring you comfort and peace during this difficult time. God bless you all.

The family is in my prayers. I have so many fond memories of Dan from growing up in Dallas. He was in my brother, Butch's class, my cousin Pat's best friend, and Carol Ann's neighbor. He was so patient with us taking us to RO's and the Beacon when we were lowly freshmen. Much love to all during this sad time. I cherish my memories of Dan.
