Kathleen Burgess Obituary
Born in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Barney Carpenter and Gettie Upton Carpenter. Kathleen was retired from Lincoln County Hospital as a receptionist. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Burgess; sisters, Margie Beam and Pat Carpenter and brothers, Robert Carpenter and John Carpenter.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Wright and husband, Jerry of Bessemer City; two sons, Mike Bur-gess and wife, Renee of Cherryville and Joel Burgess and wife, Tonya of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Deanna Walker, Brandon Wright and wife, Leslie, Masyn Burgess, Kaitlyn Burgess and Luke Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Walker, Jake Walker, Carson Wright and Briley Wright; great-great grandchild, Sawyer Schronce; brother, Ben Carpenter and wife, Pat; three sisters-in-law, Nadine Campbell, Pauline Burgess and Merle Carpenter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center following the service.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Hendricks officiating.
Burial will be in the City Memorial Cemetery, Cherryville.
Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3240 Tryon Courthouse Road, Cherryville, NC 28021 or to Gaston County Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28053.
