Barry Huggins, 64, went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2013. Barry Carlton Huggins was born on November 3, 1948 in Houston, Texas to B.C. and Ruth (Jennings) Huggins. He married Karen Clemmensen (whom he met at age 16) on June 22, 1968 and they then moved to College Station, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Distribution. Barry and Karen spent 31 years in Wichita Falls, Texas where he worked for Wichita Supply Company, owned his own business, Computec Products, and worked for Energy Education, and Wells Real Estate Funds. His current employment was with Cenergistic (formerly Energy Education). In Wichita Falls, Barry served on the board of several civic organizations. He chaired the annual fundraising campaign for the YMCA. He served on the board of directors of the local bank. He was an elder and served the church on many committees and in leadership. Barry and Karen moved to Colorado Springs in 2004, where he served as an elder at New Life Church. He was involved in Global Ministries and with the Men's Ministry, and in prayer. Barry led worship, wrote songs, loved and appreciated music. He was an avid photographer. He loved the town of Red River, New Mexico where he had a cabin for 30 years. He loved people, family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren (he was known as "Pabba" to them). He left behind many close friends and passed on to others his profound love for Christ. He is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter Megan (Drew) Land, his son Fr. Benjamin (Lauren) Huggins, as well as grandchildren: Jonas, Eden, Daia, Anya Land, Benaiah, Gabrielle, Moses and Mariam Huggins. His brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Gene and Lisa Berman. Nieces and nephews: Zack and Sofia Berman, Lisa Huggins, Laurie (A.C.) Robinson, Kelsey and Austin Robinson and Amber Lautner and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and B.C. Huggins, and his brother and sister-in-law Keith and Liz Huggins. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, at 4:00 p.m. at New Life Church and will be live-streamed at newlifechurch.org. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up in the name of Barry Huggins at New Life Church. Funds will be distributed to groups that effectively mentor young men.
